Join us for our Community of Practice Space —a dedicated, ongoing forum for home visitors to connect, share, and discuss how to better support African American home visiting families and staff - will continue this fiscal year!
The group is is NOT a training - it is a voluntary, reflective space for all frontline home visiting providers (regardless of model or funding source) to come together to discuss how to better recruit and serve African American families and staff.

This webinar, recorded on June 17, 2025, is the first of a 3-part collaborative series between the Department of Children and Family Services and LA Best Babies Network. In this series, attendees learn more about the various home visiting models supporting pregnant people and families with young children in L.A. County. In this webinar, representatives from Welcome Baby, Healthy Families America, and Parents as Teachers programs share eligibility criteria for their programs, outline what a typical home visit provided by their program looks like, and walk through their program’s referral process.

The purpose of this training series is to provide home visiting staff with an overview of domestic violence red flags to be aware of as they serve their clients, as well as education of the impact of domestic violence on children, and legal considerations when working with immigrants who may be experiencing domestic violence.

LA Best Babies Network and the LA County Perinatal and Early Childhood Home Visitation Consortium is partnering with Peace Over Violence for a virtual Domestic Violence Training Series available to all home visiting staff in LA County.
The webinar will cover the prevalence of domestic violence in the U.S. and LA County, how to identify red flags and signs of abuse in domestic and intimate partner violence (DV/IPV), and the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships. It will also teach trauma-informed crisis response strategies to support survivors and provide a list of referrals for DV and other victim services in LA County.
Panel: Keys to Stability- Exploring Housing Support Systems in Los Angeles County
This webinar aims to provide home visiting staff and early childhood educators with resources to help address housing instability for clients and families. Participants will learn about the application process, eligibility criteria, and available resources for crisis housing, eviction prevention, and rental assistance. Additionally, we will discuss alternative strategies to support clients in need of housing, even when resources are limited. Agencies participating in the panel include: Housing for Health Program (LA County Department of Health Services), Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System (HOPICS), Harbor Interfaith Council, and LA Family Housing.

Medi-Cal Coverage & Resources for Home Visiting Staff
Liz Ramirez, the Director of Training and Education for Maternal and Child Health Access will go over the role of DPH-funded health care navigators, how to utilize the DPSS Medi-Cal infant registration line, the Medi-Cal redetermination process and 2024 changes (retaining covered recipients, comprehensive coverage gap, etc.).
